Moi Monroe

Banker/Cyclist
Jacksonville, Florida

Moi’s New Goal: “I plan to retire this year, and in July of 2023 embark on a fundraising effort for Childhood Cancer Awareness by riding my bicycle from Anchorage Alaska to Jacksonville Florida.”

Meet Moi

Moi was diagnosed with Crohn’s when he was 21 and suffered for years with painful symptoms. He tried most every drug available including all the biologics up until 2019. In December of 2019 he had his first of two surgeries and had his colon removed. Five months later, Moi’s rectum and anus were removed which completed my total colectomy. Moi says, “I am now a happy ileostomate who has regained my life and once again enjoys the many outdoor activities only now without the pain.”

Prior to surgery at the MAYO CLINIC in Jacksonville FL, Moi met with an ostomy nurse for a short class on ostomy care. In their packet was a small card about Stealth Belt. From the moment he read that brochure he knew everything was going to be ok. He could swim, bike, fish whatever he wanted to do and feel secure. It was a small card, but a huge confirmation that he was doing the right thing and that having the surgery was not going to slow him down.

Moi plans to retire in March of 2023, and in July of 2023 embark on a fundraising effort for Childhood Cancer Awareness by riding his bicycle along with several others from Anchorage Alaska to Jacksonville Florida. Moi says, “Why, because I can!!! Thank you Stealth Belt for keeping me in the game.”
